The publisher (St Cuthbert Press Ltd) is the exclusive administrator of this website and is responsible for the processing of the personal data that are submitted through its portal and via email, in accordance with the applicable UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The publisher has been issued with a Data Protection Registration Certificate (registration reference: ZB808947) by the Information Commissioner’s Office.
The term “personal data” refers to any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (“data subject”); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person. In case the users of this website voluntarily providing their personal data (e.g. name, address, affiliation, telephone number, and / or email address), we shall process them for the purposes mentioned below. Users may decline to provide personal information; however, in this case, we may not be able to deliver the services requested.
For the purpose of delivering editing or project management services, customers are asked to provide the following personal data: (i) name, (ii) affiliation, and (iii) email address.
For the purpose of the submission, processing, and publication of a journal manuscript, authors are asked to provide the following personal data when submitting a manuscript: (i) names of all authors, (ii) affiliations of all authors, and (iii) email addresses of the corresponding author. These details are essential for the facilitation of scientific communication. Visitors of a journal’s website and subscribers to a journal will be able to access these data once / if the said manuscript is published, while given the fact that the journal is indexed, abstracted, and / or deposited in various databases, these data will also be communicated to such databases. Furthermore, during the manuscript submission process, the corresponding author is requested to suggest five reviewers. In this case, the publisher also processes the names, email addresses, and affiliations of the suggested reviewers. The corresponding author is bound to inform the data subjects they suggest as reviewers about this process before they submit their personal data to us.
For the purpose of providing subscription services for the printed copies of a journal (including delivery), subscribers are asked to provide the following personal data: (i) name, (ii) email address, (iii) physical address. A record of the purchase history of each subscriber is also maintained by the publisher.
For the purpose of providing service updates as well as for marketing purposes, the publisher collects names and contact details that are freely available online through publicly available sources.
The payment of services as well as of a journal’s open-access fees and subscriptions is carried out via bank transfer or credit card, using a third party; therefore, no payment information is processed by the publisher.
The lawful bases for collecting and / or processing personal data in the way described above are: (i) the performance of contract, (ii) legitimate interest, (iii) consent, and / or (iv) compliance with a legal or regulatory obligation.
Collected personal data are retained only for as long as it is required according to the terms of the relevant contractual relationship. When the processing of data is based on consent, the publisher deletes these data upon withdrawal of the said consent. Moreover, the publisher deletes all personal data provided, if there is no legal basis or other requirement for keeping such data, five years after the last activity of the data subject. However, all published personal data associated with published journal articles cannot be deleted.
As a data subject, you can exercise your rights towards the processing of your personal data and specifically:
- your right of access: you have the right to ask the publisher for copies of your personal information; you can request other information such as details about where the publisher gets personal information from and with whom these personal information are shared with; there are some exemptions which means you may not receive all the information you ask for,
- your right to rectification: you have the right to ask the publisher to correct or delete personal information you think is inaccurate or incomplete.,
- your right to erasure: you have the right to ask us to delete your personal information,
- your right to restriction of processing: you have the right to ask us to limit how we can use your personal information,
- your right to object to processing: you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data,
- your right to data portability: you have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, and
- your right to withdraw consent: when we use consent as our lawful basis, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.
If you make a request, the publisher must respond to you without undue delay and, in any event, within one month. To make a data protection rights request, please email the publisher.
